ADA, Oklahoma – The Ouachita Baptist University women's cross country team won its second Great American Conference Championship in program history Saturday morning at the 2024 GAC Championships.
Ouachita scored 48 points to earn the 2024 GAC Championship. Arkansas Tech was the runner-up with 58 points. East Central placed third with 76 points to round out the top three teams.
Head Coach
Steve Guymon was named the 2024 GAC Women's Coach of the Year with today's win.
Allison Hylkema was the top runner for the Tigers in the Championship 5K, placing fourth overall with a time of 18:50.07.
Izzi Breaux was right behind in fifth place with a time of 18:52.66.
Katelynn Nachtigall finished seventh (19:01.23), followed by
Elise Knight in 13th (19:13.49), and
Macie Cash in 19th (19:30.32) to round out the top five runners and scorers for the Tigers.
Hylkema, Breaux, and Nachtigal earned All-GAC first team honors for placing in the top 10. Knight and Cash earned All-GAC Second Team honors for finishing in the top 20.
As previously mentioned, this is the second GAC title in program history, as the Tigers won their first in 2022.
The Tigers will now be preparing for the 2024 NCAA Central Regional Championships that are set to take place on Saturday, November 9 in Joplin, Missouri.
