ARKADELPHIA – The Ouachita women's soccer team put it all together on Saturday in a 3-0 Great American Conference victory over Southwestern Oklahoma State at home.
The Tigers (3-4-1, 2-0-1 GAC) recorded their first shutout of the season and matched a season-high in goals.
Teagan Jaussi scored her second goal of the season to break up Saturday's zeroes in the 13th minute. An attempted clearance by the SWOSU defense set up Jaussi for a long shot outside the box in the middle of the field, which soared past the Bulldog goalkeeper and into the top left corner of the net.
That score held at halftime with the Tigers holding a 10-8 edge in total shots, a 5-1 edge in shots on goal, and a 5-0 lead in corner kicks.
Ouachita scored quick in the second half when Jaussi sent a forward pass down the middle of the field in the 50th minute to find an open
McKenna Wright who beat the SWOSU goalkeeper on an one-on-one to find the net. It was Wright's first collegiate goal and Jaussi's team-high fourth assist of the year.
The Tigers added to their cushion with a goal in the 72nd minute when
Isabella Savattere split the SWOSU defenders on a forward pass to find
Jorden Nelson coming into the box from the left side. It was Nelson's first collegiate goal and Savattere's fourth career assist (first of 2024).
SWOSU (3-6-1, 1-3 GAC) came back to take the final lead in total shots at 21-19. Ouachita led in shots on frame 9-6.
The Tigers continue their homestand this Wednesday, October 9 against Oklahoma Baptist. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. at Kluck Field.
