DALLAS, Texas – The Ouachita men's cross country team recorded a tenth-place finish at the 2024 DBU Old Glory Gallop on Saturday.
Ouachita posted 350 points to place 10th out of 41 total teams consisting of Division I and top Division II programs. The Tigers placed second among Great American Conference members. Fellow GAC member and nationally ranked No. 8 East Central won the event with 37 points. No. 23 Cal Poly Pomona took second with 57 points.
Lawson Sanders was the first Tiger across the line, placing 54th out of 400 runners in the 8k with a time of 25:27.4. This marks the second race in a row that Sanders has been the highest finishing Ouachita runner.
Five Tigers posted top 100 finishes: After Sanders,
Jaelen Becho finished 65th with a time of 25:38.3, followed by
Dylan Dew in 77th (25:46.7),
Evan Armitage in 83rd (25:50.6), and
Cade Swindle in 88th (25:55.8).
Four GAC members competed in the event, as mentioned previously, No. 8 ECU won with 31 points. Ouachita ranked second out of the conference opponents in 10th (350). Southern Arkansas was the next GAC team in 14th (410), and Arkansas-Monticello in 41st (1,325).
The Tigers will be back in action at home next Friday, October 11 with the 2024 Tiger Invitational. The first race is set to start at 4 p.m.
