ARKADELPHIA – The Ouachita wrestling team secured its first victory of the 2024-25 season by taking down Carl Albert State College on Wednesday night at home by a final score of 35-9.
The Tigers won eight of the 10 bouts in the varsity dual, including four major decisions, two tech falls, and one pin.
Shad Cano started the night with his first win as a Tiger, taking down CASC's Giuseppe Minutillo in the 125 bout by a major decision victory of 18-4.
Other wins for the Tigers included
Jimmy Anderson in the 133 bout with an 12-4 major,
Caleb Andrews in the 149 bout with an 8-0 major,
Jaylon Otero in the 157 bout with a 17-2 tech fall in 3:00,
Sam Schmidt in the 165 bout with a 13-4 major,
Luke Brooks in the 174 bout by forfeit,
Parker Henry in the 197 bout by a 2-0 decision, and
RJ Hild in the heavyweight bout with a pin in just 19 seconds.
The Tigers will see Carl Albert State opponents again this Saturday, November 9 at the Viking Open in Poteau, Oklahoma.
