ALVA, Oklahoma – The Ouachita baseball team wrapped up its weekend series at Northwestern Oklahoma State with a 6-2 loss to the Rangers on Saturday.
The NWOSU win gives the Rangers (9-2, 2-1 GAC) the series win over the Tigers (4-5, 1-2 GAC) two games to one.
The Tigers struck first in Saturday's game with two runs in the top of the second inning on an RBI single by
Wesley Scott and an RBI double by
Tallon Heine.
Ouachita's other most promising scoring change came in the seventh inning with bases loaded and only one out, but the Rangers worked out of the jam to keep the Tigers at two. By that point, the Rangers held a 4-2 lead thanks to two runs in the fourth and two more in the sixth. The final NWOSU runs came in the seventh.
Tallon Heine continued his breakout weekend with a 3-for-3 performance at the plate in Saturday's game. He totaled seven hits in the three-game series.
After being on the road for the first nine games of the season, the Tigers are at home for the first time next weekend in a three-game series against Southwestern Oklahoma State scheduled for a double header on Friday starting at noon and a single game on Saturday at noon.
