ARKADELPHIA – The 11th-ranked Ouachita men's tennis team secured its third straight victory with a 6-1 win over 28th-ranked Northwest Missouri State on Sunday at home.
The Tigers earned the doubles point with wins in first and third positions, respectively. Seventh-ranked
Phil Exner and
Alex Blanchar started with a 6-1 win at No. 1 and then
Elias Lagger and
Aaron Osmond came through with the clincher 7-5 in over the 47th-ranked doubles duo in Northwest Missouri's Mason Meier and Martin Sanchez. Sixth-ranked Fernando Docter and
Ramon Strassmann lost a hard-fought battle at No. 2 by a score of 6-4.
In singles, 19th-ranked Exner made quick work of his opponent at No. 2 to start, followed by a NWMSU win at No. 3 to put the Tigers up 2-1.
Other wins for the Tigers included 31st-ranked Blanchar taking down 37th-ranked Andrea Zamurri at No. 1, Strassmann with a three-set affair at No. 4, Lagger in straight sets at No. 5, and
Moritz Buss in a tiebreaker at No. 6 after the match had already been decided.
The Tigers (6-2) have a pair of midweek matches scheduled for this week, traveling to Fort Smith to take on Newman in a neutral site match before coming back home on Wednesday to host Nebraska-Kearney.
