ARKADELPHIA – The Ouachita baseball team had its six-game winning streak snapped on Tuesday at home in a non-conference midweek matchup against Harding by a final score of 10-7.
Both teams struck for 16 hits in the contest, including a combined five homeruns and nine total extra base hits.
Nearing the end of the back-and-forth contest, the Bisons (17-9) held a 7-4 lead heading into the bottom of the eighth inning before Ouachita (15-11) rallied for its first crooked number score of the game with three runs to force a 7-7 tie heading into ninth.
Harding answered with three runs of its own and held the Tigers scoreless in the bottom half of the frame to earn the win in the first of five scheduled meetings between the two squads during the regular season.
The Tigers matched its season-high in hits with 16.
Michael Quinones and
Cade Burris were responsible for six of those with three hits each.
G. Allen, Welsey Scott,
Collin Liles, and
Tallon Heine all had two hits each. Scott, Liles, Burris, and Heine all had one solo homerun.
Ouachita is back in action on Wednesday with a return trip to face Texas A&M-Texarkana. The Tigers beat the Eagles 14-3 last Wednesday at home. Tomorrow's game is set for a 6 p.m. start at Dobson Field in Texarkana.
