JONESBORO, Arkansas – The Ouachita men's track and field team picked up two event wins and eight top 10 finishes at the Arkansas State Alumni Classic over the weekend to close out the regular season.
No team scores were recorded at this meet, but the Tigers fared well against competition from multiple Division I and Division II programs, including fellow Great American Conference members in Southern Arkansas and Harding.
Caden Callahan won the 400m Hurdles with a time of 58.68, beating a DI runner from UT-Martin who took second. This marks Callahan's third win of the season in the 400m Hurdles.
Dylan Dew picked up a win in the 800m with a time of 1:52.64, beating multiple DI runners and won by a margin of two seconds. Dew's time of 1:52.64 currently ranks atop the GAC leaderboards for this season.
The Top 10 finishing Tigers were:
- Xander Naegle took fourth in the 800m with a time of 1:58.06, finishing only behind Dew and DI runners.
- Dhakivion Seals placed fifth in the 400m with a time of 50.22.
- Gabriel Greenwich took sixth in the 1500m with a time of 3:58.47.
- Russell Hensley placed sixth in the Javelin Throw with a distance of 46.93m (154')
- Josh Tibbs finished ninth in the 1500m with a time of 4:00.04.
- Keagan Pointer placed tenth in the 400m with a time of 51.17.
The Tigers will now be preparing for the 2024 Great American Conference Track & Field Championships hosted by Southern Arkansas University on May 2-4 in Magnolia, Arkansas.
