SEARCY, Arkansas – The Ouachita men's track and field team posted an event win and nine top 10 finishes at the 2024 Bison Open hosted by Harding University on Saturday.
No team scores were recorded at the Bison Open, but the Tigers competed well against solid competition that included top nationally ranked DII programs and Division I teams.
Cadan Callahan won the 400m Hurdles at the Harding meet with a time of 55.67, beating out multiple DI runners from UCA and UALR for the victory. This win marks Callahan's second win of the season in the 400m and his fourth win between the 110m and 400m Hurdles so far this year.
The Tigers' best event was the 800m with four top 10 finishes:
- Keagan Pointer placed second in the race with a time of 1:56.04, less than a second out of first.
- Dylan Dew was right behind to take third with a time of 1:56.97.
- Ethan Kailey finished fifth with a time of 1:58.58.
- Nathan Miller placed ninth with a time of 1:59.23.
Other top 10 Tigers were:
- Brayden James placed third in the 3000m Steeplechase with a time of 10:20.88.
- Cade Martin finished fourth in the 3000m Steeplechase with a time of 10:20.89.
- Zach Lane placed fifth in the triple jump with a distance of 12.44m (40' 9.75")
- Michael Ryman placed eighth in the Pole Vault with a height of 4.31m (14' 1.75")
The Tigers will be heading south next weekend to take part in the Stephen F. Austin Carl Knight Invitational in Nacogdoches, Texas from Thursday, April 11 through Saturday, April 13.
