POTEAU, Oklahoma – The Ouachita wrestling team opened the 2025 portion of the schedule on Wednesday night with a 31-12 road victory over Carl Albert State.
The Tigers won seven of the 10 bouts, highlighted by
Will Wilson's pin in 1:52 in the 165 matchup and a 17-1 tech fall from
Parker Henry in the 197.
Wilson made quick work of his opponent with an early takedown and near fall before getting the pin in less than two minutes. Henry had three takedowns in his bout, including two in the first period for the early lead.
Other wins for Ouachita included
Shad Cano with a 12-5 decision in the 125,
Hudson Herring with a 6-5 decision in the 141,
BK Seago with a 15-6 major in the 285,
Caleb Andrews with a 15-2 major in the 149, and
Jaylon Otero with a win by forfeit in the 157.
Andrews finished strong in his matchup with 10 of his points coming in the third period, including and takedown and a near fall to reach tech fall level. Herring's close win can be credited heavily to a strong second period with an escape and a takedown. Seago scattered his points with a takedown in each period, including a near fall in the first. Cano built an early lead with six points in the first period and cushioned that advantage with a takedown in the second.
The Tigers are back in action this Saturday, January 18 at the Newman Jet Duals in Wichita, Kansas.
