CLEVELAND, Mississippi – The Ouachita women's swimming and diving team saw a 16-year-old record fall and placed second on Friday on day one of No. 11 Delta State's Statesmen Shootout.
The Tigersharks recorded 253 points to place ahead of Meridian Community College with six points, behind first place and No. 11 Delta State with 400 points.
Anna Phelps set the school record in the 200 Butterfly with a time of 2:01.69, breaking the previous record set by Ksenia Gromova in 2009, placing second in the event's A-Final and hitting the NCAA B-Standard mark to punch a ticket to the NCAA Championships.
Ouachita tallied nine A-Final top three finishes to help earn the second-place finish.
Keilee Holcomb took second in the 200 Freestyle A-Final with a time of 1:53.57, less than a second out of first. Holcomb also finished third in the 200 IM with a time of 2:05.72, just 0.64 seconds out of first place.
Kate McCown placed second in the 1000 Freestyle A-Final with a time of 10:44.02.
Jameson Tankersly took second in the 100 Backstroke A-Final with a time of 56.71, less than a second away from first.
Didi Christenson finished third in the 50 Freestyle A-Final with a time of 24.31.
Abigayl Conard placed third in the A-Final of the 3-Meter Dive with a score of 291.53.
Kasie Lopez took third in the 100 Breaststroke A-Final with a time of 1:08.46.
The 200 Medley Relay squad of Tankersley, Holcomb,
Rachel Del Angel, and
Sophie Derby placed second in the event's A-Final with a time of 1:47.62.
The Tigersharks will close out the regular season tomorrow with day two of the Statesmen Shootout in Mississippi.
