GREENWICH EARNS SECOND GAC CROSS COUNTRY RUNNER OF THE WEEK HONOR

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. -- Ouachita freshman Caleb Greenwich was selected as the Great American Conference Cross Country Runner of the Week for the second time this season, following a standout performance at the seventh annual Gans Creek Classic, hosted by Missouri.

Greenwich clocked in at 25:29.3 to pace the Tigers and finish 21st out of 241 finishers in the 8K open race at Gans Creek on Sept. 26. The Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina native finished with the fifth-fastest time among freshmen that raced in the open division and tied the seventh-fastest 8K finish in Ouachita men's cross country program history. The Tigers tallied a team score of 217 for a seventh-place finish out of 22 competing schools in the third men's race.

Greenwich earned his first GAC Cross Country Runner of the Week honor after taking second overall in his collegiate debut with a 5K time of 14:50.82 at the Bob Gravett Invitational in Arkadelphia. In his first 8K race at the Texas A&M Invitational, Greenwich posted a time of 24:31.6 to snap a 40-year old program record previously set by Ouachita Assistant Cross Country Coach Pat Ponder in 1985.

Ouachita hosts the Tiger Invitational for the regular season finale on Oct. 10 in Arkadelphia.
