RUSSELLVILLE, Arkansas – For the second time this season and 10th of her career, Ouachita volleyball senior
Courtney Hanson has been selected as the Great American Conference Setter of the Week.
Hanson and the Tigers went 3-0 last week all at home, including a non-conference sweep over Lane College, a four-game GAC win over Southwestern Oklahoma State, and a GAC sweep over Northwestern Oklahoma State.
For the week, Hanson totaled 101 assists for an average of 10.1 per set. The Arlington, Texas native started the week with 14 assists against Lane. On Thursday, she posted 42 assists against the Bulldogs and followed that with another 40-plus performance against the Rangers on Friday with 45, which was just one off her season-high.
The 45-assist performance against Northwestern was the best in the league this past week in three-set affairs.
In addition to her setting numbers, Hanson also turned in 25 digs, nine kills, and a league-best eight aces throughout the week.
Against Lane, Hanson became just the second Tiger to surpass 4,000 career kills. Her current total of 4,098 trails only Stormi Leonard, who had 4,767 from 2015-2018. Hanson is just the third in GAC history to reach the milestone.
Hanson and the Tigers are having one of the best seasons in program history with a 17-3 overall record and an unblemished 7-0 record in GAC matches. The Tigers are alone at the top of the GAC standings nearing the midway point of the conference schedule.
Up next is a road trip to the Sooner State to take on East Central Thursday at 6 p.m. and Southeastern Oklahoma State Friday at 4 p.m.
