ARKADELPHIA — The Ouachita men's soccer team saw its postseason hopes come to an end Thursday, falling 4-0 to fourth-ranked Fort Hays State at Kluck Field.

The visiting, Great American Conference-leading Tigers of Fort Hays State (13-0-3), struck early by converting a penalty kick in the 11th minute and scored twice in each half to stay unbeaten this season. 

Ouachita's best chance to score came midway through the first half when senior Alexis Murillo drew a foul inside the box, but his penalty kick was denied by Fort Hays goalkeeper Payton Roehrich. Ouachita senior goalkeeper Dillon Staal battled to keep the Tigers in the fight and finished with nine saves.

Ouachita generated 12 total shots, including five shots on goal, but could not find the net against one of the top defensive units in the GAC. With the loss, Ouachita dropped to 3-9-3 overall and 1-7-1 in conference play, officially eliminating the Tigers from contention in the GAC tournament.

With three games left to play, Ouachita will host Newman on Saturday, Nov. 1 in the second match of the double-header at Kluck Field. The men's team will honor former players on Alumni Day, following the women's Senior Day celebration.
