ARKADELPHIA – A 10-point differential in the second period was the biggest difference in the game in Ouachita's 73-58 loss to league-leading Southern Nazarene on Friday night at home in Great American Conference women's basketball action.
With SNU leading by as much as 18 early in the fourth period, the Tigers put together a run to cut the deficit in half with 43 seconds remaining in regulation. SNU went 6-for-6 at the free throw line in the final seconds to stall the Tiger rally.
Putting aside SNU's 21-11 lead in the second frame, Friday's game was only plus-five in favor of the Crimson Storm. The Tigers only trailed by three at the end of the first, matched SNU in the third at 13-13, and only trailed by two in the fourth period scoring.
Ouachita finished the night shooting 47 percent from the field (21-for-45), 20 percent on three-pointers (2-for-10), and 93 percent on foul shots (14-for-15). SNU ended up at 49 percent overall (26-for-53), 46 percent on three-pointers (11-for-24), and 91 percent on foul shots (10-for-11).
Madeleine Tipton led the Tigers in scoring and rebounding with 15 points and seven boards. 
Laney Mears added 11 points and a game-high seven assists. 
Abbey Harrison and 
Brooke Smith each had 10 points.
The Tigers are back in action this Sunday at home against Oklahoma Baptist. Tipoff is set for 1 p.m. at Bill Vining Arena.
