ADA, Oklahoma – The Ouachita baseball team opened its Great American Conference weekend series on the road against East Central on Saturday with a 9-3 win.
The orange Tigers broke a scoreless tie with a pair of runs in the bottom of the fourth inning before the purple Tigers responded with crooked numbers in the fifth and sixth innings to take control.
Ouachita's four-run fifth inning was highlighted by an RBI single from
Joseph Bolin and an RBI double from
Cole Bedwell. Two other runs came across on an ECU error.
The next four purple Tiger runs came on the long ball.
Garrett Graham hit his first Ouachita homerun in the sixth inning with a three-run shot to left center.
Isaac Nowell collected his second homerun of the season with a solo shot to left in the eighth.
The final Ouachita run came across in the ninth on a bases-loaded walk by
Conner Titus.
Chase Oberle earned his first win of the season after giving up just two runs on five hits with seven strikeouts and four walks in the first six innings.
Braden Tucker and
Kyndall Cassidy combined to keep ECU scoreless and hitless in the seventh and eighth innings.
Games two and three of the series will be played as a double header on Sunday starting at noon.
