ARKADELPHIA – The Ouachita men's tennis team moved to 2-0 in conference matches and gave Phil Exner a win on Senior Day with a 4-3 victory over Southeastern Oklahoma State on Monday at home.
Exner, the lone senior on 2024-25 squad, was 2-0 in Monday's match. He and teammate Ramon Strassmann, the fifth-ranked doubles duo in the nation, started with a 6-3 win on court one. Moritz Buss and Elias Lagger had already won on court two to put the Tigers up 1-0 heading into singles.
Strassmann was the first to finish in singles, earning a convincing win on court two to put the Tigers up 2-0. Exner, ranked No. 2 in the nation in singles, followed up with a closer two-set win on court one.
Southeastern rallied to tie up the match at 3-3 with singles wins on courts three, four, and five. Tinus Mueller was the clincher for the Tigers with a three-set win on court six.
The Tigers head to Missouri later this week for their final two non-conference matchups, taking on Northwest Missouri State on Thursday in a neutral-site match in St. Louis before heading across the state to take on William Jewell on Friday.
