MARYVILLE, Missouri – The Ouachita men's tennis team went back-and-forth with No. 45 Northwest Missouri State on Thursday, but it was the Bearcats getting the final blow in a 4-3 decision.
The Tigers started off on a high note, sweeping through doubles to take a 1-0 lead into singles.
The Bearcats evened up the match with a win at No. 2 singles. Ouachita regained the lead on court six with a win from Yarin Aebi before Northwest answered back at No. 4 to make it 2-2.
Reigning MIAA/GAC South Division Athlete of the Week Phil Exner was next, giving the Tigers a 3-2 lead with a win at No. 1. The Bearcats rallied in tiebreakers in the last two remaining matchups at No. 3 and No. 5.
The Tigers close out their trip to Missouri with a stop at William Jewell on Friday.
