ARKADELPHIA – The Ouachita men's track team split up between two meets this weekend and posted solid results at both the Ole Miss Joe Walker Invitational and Harding's Bryan Phillips Open.
Ole Miss Joe Walker Invitational
Ouachita tallied three top 10 finishes in Oxford, Mississippi at the meet than spanned Friday and Saturday. No team scores were kept, but the Tigers competed well against top programs from Division I, II and NAIA.
Aden Hecht took seventh in the 400m Hurdles with a time of 53.93 to place third out of the DII runners.
Dylan Dew placed ninth in the 800m Invite with a time of 1:51.85, finishing second among DII runners.
Caden Callahan finished 12
th in the 110m Hurdles, first among DII Hurdlers with a time of 15.00. Callhan also posted a 10
th place finish in the 400m Hurdles, finishing fourth out of DII runners with a time of 54.59.
Three Tigers placed in the top 20 of the 800m Open as
Xander Naegle took 10
th (1:53.48), followed by
Jones White in 11
th (1:53.65), and
Keagan Pointer in 17
th (1:45.66).
Baden Brink posted a top 20 finish in the 400m, coming in 20
th with a time of 50.18. Brink was second among DII runners in the event.
Harding Bryan Phillips Open
Sunday's meet in Searcy, Arkansas was originally scheduled for Friday and Saturday, but storms across the state forced it to be moved back a day. No team scores were kept, but the Tigers did well against multiple DII programs and two DI teams.
Ethan Kailey took second place in the 1500m with a time of 4:01.98, finishing only behind a DI runner. In total, Ouachita posted four top 10 finishers in the 1500m, after Kailey in second,
Josh Tibbs placed third (4:03.11), followed by
Tate Stacks in fifth (4:06.99), and
Whit Lawrence in tenth (4:09.68).
Isaac Chapman placed third in the 110m Hurdles with a time of 16.35. Chapman also finished sixth in the Shot Put with a distance of 13.40m and placed ninth in the Pole Vault with a height of 4.05m.
Brit Hawkins finished third in the 5000m with a time of 16:16.79.
MJ Ryman took fourth in the Pole Vault with a height of 4.35m (14' 3.25").
Landon Proctor finished fourth in the 400m Hurdles with a time of 1:04.47.
Miller Goff placed fifth in the 100m with a time of 11.03, less than a second out of first place.
Marcus McGahee finished fifth in the 400m with a time of 51.20, less than two seconds away from second place.
Drew Bryant took sixth in the 5000m with a time of 16:40.74.
Russell Hensley placed sixth in the Javelin with a distance 45.37m (148' 10").
Zach Lane took sixth in the Triple Jump with a distance of 12.18m (39' 11.50"). Lane also placed seventh in the Long Jump with a distance of 5.97m (19' 7").
The Tigers will be back in action this week at the Stephen F. Austin Cark Kight Invitational set to run April 10-12 in Nacogdoches, Texas.
