HOT SPRINGS, Arkansas – Playing its fourth contest in the past three days, the Ouachita baseball team dropped a non-conference game to Christian Brothers on Tuesday at Majestic Park by a final score of 10-8.
The Bucs jumped out to an early lead with four runs in the top of the first inning, but the Tigers answered back with three in the bottom of the inning on a three-run homerun from
Jaxson Jester, which was his first in a Tiger uniform.
Both teams put up crooked numbers once again in the third inning with the Bucs scoring two to take a 6-3 lead before the Tigers tied up the game with three runs in the bottom of the frame, highlighted by a solo homerun by
Wesley Scott and an RBI double by
Reece McWilliams. It was Scott's fifth round-tripper this season.
CBU found the scoreboard for the last time in the top of the fourth, but a four-run rally that inning ended up being enough to get the win.
The Tigers scratched one across in the bottom of the fourth on a solo homerun by
Isaac Nowell, his team-high seventh of the season and third in the last two games. That made it 10-7 in favor of the Bucs.
Neither team scored in the next four innings, and CBU was held in check with the pitching of Ouachita's
Weston Bailey, who gave up just two hits in the final five frames.
The Tigers rallied in the bottom of the ninth to load the bases, but an RBI single from
Kyndall Cassidy was the only run-producing play. Nowell lined out to second to end the game with the bases loaded.
CBU ended up with a 14-12 edge in hits. Jester and Cassidy led the Tigers with three hits each. McWilliams added two hits.
Ouachita is back in action this weekend on the road in a three-game Great American Conference series against Southwestern Oklahoma State.
