ARKADELPHIA – Ouachita women's tennis coach
Kourtney Chumbley has submitted her resignation to pursue another coaching opportunity.
Chumbley, a 2015 graduate of Ouachita and three-time all-conference performer during her playing career, recently completed her fifth season as the head coach for the Tigers, which was also the program's most successful season since becoming a charter member of the Great American Conference in 2011. The Tigers won 11 dual matches and finished the season in the semifinals of the GAC Championship Tournament.
During Chumbley's coaching tenure at Ouachita, the Tigers earned 11 All-GAC selections, 22 academic All-GAC selections, four GAC sportsmanship awards, and five consecutive distinctions as an ITA All-Academic Team. This past season, Chumbley was named the GAC Women's Tennis Coach of the Year.
"Coach Chumbley has done a remarkable job leading our women's tennis program," said Ouachita Director of Athletics
David Sharp. "We are certainly going to miss her and her infectious positive attitude, and we wish her nothing but the best in the next chapter of her career."
"Working at my alma mater has been a long-time dream, and I have been blessed to work with a fantastic group of athletes during my time," said Chumbley. "Without a doubt, these have been a very special five years because of the relationships we've built in our program, across campus, and in the community. I am thankful for Coach Sharp and the athletic department for trusting me to lead the program, and I am confident they will continue to succeed in the future. I will always be proud to be a Tiger and look forward to seeing their continued accomplishments."
The search for a new head coach is underway. Inquiries should be emailed to
