ARKADELPHIA – The Ouachita volleyball team earned its second straight sweep and put the finishing touches on a 3-0 weekend with a victory over Auburn-Montgomery on Saturday at home in the finale of the Tiger-Reddie Challenge.
The Tigers bookended Saturday's match with dominant wins in the first and third sets, winning the opener 25-12 and closing out the win at 25-16 in the third. Ouachita and AUM had a close battle in the middle set ending in the Tigers' favor 25-23.
Ouachita ended up with a plus-.300 advantage in hitting percentage, recording 36 kills on 80 swings with only five errors for a final percentage of .388, which eclipses Friday's .337 percentage against UT Dallas for a new season-high. On the other side, AUM finished at .085 overall.
Highlighting the first set was an 11-0 run for the Tigers all with
Peyton Church behind the serve line. Neither team had more than a three-point swing in the second set. The Tigers had an 8-0 run in the third set with
Courtney Hanson serving.
Leah Gardner ed the Tigers offensively with a near perfect match, recording 11 kills on 12 swings with no errors for a .917 hitting percentage. She also had six blocks in the win.
Riley Braziel had eight kills in the win.
Emily Adams had seven. Defensively,
Kylie Kisgen led the way with 15 digs.
Courtney Hanson added eight digs and a match-high 19 assists.
The Tigers open Great American Conference play Tuesday night on the road against Southern Arkansas. First serve is set for 6 p.m. in Magnolia.
