COLUMBIA, Mo. — The Ouachita men's cross country team turned in a strong showing Friday, finishing seventh out of 22 schools in the seventh annual Gans Creek Classic hosted by Missouri.
Among the three races that took place, the Tigers competed in the open division and posted a team score of 217. Freshman Caleb Greenwich paced Ouachita, clocking a time of 25:29.3 in his second collegiate 8K race to place 21st overall out of 241 finishers.
Junior Tate Stacks was the second Ouachita runner to cross the finish line, coming in 74th with a time of 26:32.5. Stacks was followed by freshman Nick Wheeler in 89th with a time of 26:50.6. Wheeler came within three seconds of his personal best of 26:48.7, which he set in his collegiate debut at the Texas A&M Invitational earlier in September.
Veteran seniors rounded out Ouachita's top five finishers as Dylan Dew (26:56.4) and Evan Armitage (26:57.1) finished 95th and 97th, respectively, to help secure the Tigers placement inside the top 10.
Both Ouachita cross country teams have two weeks to prepare for the Tiger Invitational, scheduled for Oct. 10 in Arkadelphia.
