TIGERS FINISH NINTH AT OKLAHOMA CLASSIC

NORMAN, Okla. — The Ouachita women's indoor track and field team was tested against a talented field Friday at the Oklahoma Classic and finished ninth out of 14 teams competing inside the Mosier Indoor Facility.

The Tigers delivered five top-eight performances against quality Division I and Division II competition, highlighted by breakout showings from four underclassmen. Ouachita made its presence felt on the track as junior Belle Lindsey won her preliminary race, then placed sixth in the 60 meter hurdles finals with a finishing time of 9.14 seconds. Sophomore Bella Maxson followed in eighth place at 9.48.

Two Tigers finished inside the top 10 in the women's 200 meters, including junior Joey Babel in seventh place with a time of 26.21 seconds, followed by freshman Zyron Brock in tenth place at 26.67.

Freshman Rocco Patrick led the way for Ouachita in the men's weight throw, placing fourth overall with a mark of 17.83 meters (58-feet, 6 inches). Sophomore Bo Rodgers placed eighth in the shot put with a throw of 14.27 meters (46-feet, 10 inches). Both throwers held their own against a loaded Division I field that featured multiple athletes from Oklahoma and North Texas.

Ouachita will emphasize sharpening marks and times as the Tigers continue their indoor track and field season at the Howie Ryan Invitational on Friday, hosted by the University of Houston.
