TIGERS PUNCTUATE SENIOR DAY WITH A DOZEN EVENT WINS AT OUACHITA INVITATIONAL

ARKADELPHIA — The Ouachita men's and women's track and field teams delivered an impressive performance on their home surface Saturday, combining for 10 individual event victories and sweeping both 4x400-meter relays during the Ouachita Invitational, presented by Taylor King Law, at the Hickingbotham Family Track & Field Complex.

The Tigers leaned on dominant showings from the women's team as six different athletes claimed individual wins. Freshman Zyron Brock led the women's side with two wins in her respective field events. Brock captured the long jump and triple jump title, posting a leap of 5.49 meters (18-feet, 0.25 inches) to win the long jump before she followed with a personal-best leap of 11.63 meters (38-feet, 1.75 inches) to claim the triple jump crown.

Senior Katelynn Nachtigal opened the track events with a victory in the 3000-meter steeplechase, cruising in her senior-day run to the finish in 11:18.70. Senior Allison Hylkema continued to showcase the distance runners with a win in the 5000 meters at 17:50.25. 

Two juniors battled for a tight finish with personal-bests in the 400 meter dash as Anna Woolsey edged teammate Joey Babel and crossed first at 55.72, while Babel followed behind in 55.92. Woolsey later added a third-place finish in the 200 meter dash at 24.48. 

Senior Addrienna Gray claimed another win for the Tigers in the 400-meter hurdles with a personal-best time of 1:02.95. The Tigers also dominated the 800 meter race as sophomore Addi Durand claimed the victory with a personal-best time of 2:13.67, while junior Ellie Hoemann finished third in 2:19.40.

In the field events, junior Brenlee Leonard placed second in the shot put with a throw of 12.69 meters (41-feet, 7.5 inches), while sophomore Ariana Neal finished third with a mark of 12.39 meters (40-feet, 7.75 inches).

Ouachita capped the meet with the final relay victory as the women's 4x400-meter relay team featuring Ashley Dillman, along with Babel, Woolsey and Durand combined to win the race with a time of 3:52.84. The Tigers' 4x100-meter relay team consisting of Gray, Brock, Babel and Woolsey also posted a strong performance with a second-place in 47.00 seconds flat. 

Sophomore thrower Rocco Patrick highlighted the men's events with a dominant display. Patrick crushed the field in the hammer throw with a personal-best mark of 53.54 meters (175-feet, 8 inches), finishing more than 30 feet ahead of the nearest competitor from another school. He later added another victory in the discus with a throw of 47.16 meters (154-feet, 9 inches) and capped his afternoon with a fifth-place finish in the shot put at 13.99 meters (45-feet, 10.75 inches).

On the track, sophomore Gabe Metoyer delivered the men's third individual win, pulling away late to win the 5000 meters with a personal-best time of 15:11.86. Sophomore Jones White also turned in a strong effort in the 800 meters, ultimately finishing second with a personal-best time of 1:53.23 after leading the pack through the opening lap. Freshmen Mitchell Gage and Nathan Bradford showed more depth with personal bests in the 200 meter dash as Gage finished third at 21.56, while Bradford followed in fourth at 21.65. 

Junior MJ Ryman cleared a personal-best 4.65 meters (15-feet, 3 inches) on his third attempt in the pole vault to claim the top spot among attached athletes. The men's team stamped the final race of the Ouachita Invitational with a win in the 4x400-meter relay as the team of Gage and Bradford, along with Gavin Rainey and Dhakvion Seals posted a winning time of 3:14.32.

The Tigers' 12 combined victories stamped a strong sendoff in Ouachita's lone home meet of the outdoor track season.
