ARKADELPHIA – The Ouachita men's tennis team moved to 2-0 in MIAA/GAC play with a 5-2 victory over Arkansas-Fort Smith at home on Saturday.
The Tigers swept through doubles play starting
Aaron Osmond and
Moritz Buss making quick work of their Lion counterparts on court two and
Tinus Mueller and
Maximilian Brenner also earning a convincing victory on three.
Ramon Strassmann and
Yarin Aebi needed a tiebreaker round to earn a win on one for the duo's fifth straight doubles victory.
UAFS responded with a pair of wins in singles on courts one and two respectively to take a 2-1 lead before
Guillaume Randoux evened it up with a two-set win on court four. Buss gave the Tigers a 3-2 lead after rallying back from losing the first on court three to win the next two sets convincingly.
Brenner clinched the win for the Tigers, also coming back from down one set to win the second and third, including a 6-0 win in set three. Mueller finished off the match with a pair of close set victories on court six.
The Tigers are back in action next Wednesday, April 8 at home against Southern Arkansas.
