ARKADELPHIA – Henderson State used a pair of big innings to pull away from Ouachita in a 13-4 non-conference win Tuesday at Rab Rodgers Field.
The Reddies (22-14) broke the game open with a five-run fourth inning and added one in the sixth, two in the seventh, and four more in the eighth, finishing with 14 hits and 13 runs total.
Ouachita (18-19) was the first to score in the game with an RBI single from
Reece McWilliams in the first inning and an RBI single from
Ashton Ybarra in the second to regain the lead at 2-1 after the Reddies scored once in the top of the frame.
HSU's five-run rally in the fourth inning gave the Reddies the cushion they needed to keep Ouachita from making a comeback.
McWilliams added another RBI in the sixth inning on a double.
Garrett Graham had an RBI double of his own in the seventh.
The Tigers are back in action this weekend at home in a three-game Great American Conference series against Southwestern Oklahoma State including a double header on Friday, April 10 starting at noon and a single game on Saturday at 1 p.m. Saturday's game is also Senior Day with a ceremony to start at 12:40 p.m. at Rab Rodgers Field.
