CONWAY, Ark. – While competing in the 2015 Natural State Tournament on Saturday, 14 different Ouachita Tigers grabbed victories during individual matches.
In the 125-pound with class,
Garrett Evans pinned his opponent 1:45 into the match, and
Weston Cronan earned a 5-1 decision-win.
Josh Myers and
Justin Fletcher defeated their opponents in the 141-pound matches. Myers' victory came after a technical fall just under seven minutes into the match, and Fletcher pinned his opponent after four and a half minutes.
Four Tigers picked up wins in the 157-pound matches, including
Sean Roche,
Shane Foley,
Dakota Head and
Jacob Sherill. All four wrestlers pinned their opponents, with Roche's and Sherill's coming before the two-minute mark.
Kyle Roberts and
Jacob Andrews added victories in the 165-pound matches. Roberts pinned his opponent after only 1:07, and Andrews earned two wins, both by fall. 174-pounder
Payne Hatter produced a 10-1 major decision-win over his opponent, and
Dallas Smith pinned his opponent just under three minutes in during the 184-pound match.
O'Dell Lee picked up three victories at the 197-pound class, defeating his opponents with a 9-3 decision and two pins.
Blake Andrews continued the Tigers' success with a pin in the 285-pound class after six minutes and 26 seconds.
The Tigers are currently ranked ninth in Division II. At the end of the regular season, the Tigers will travel to Mankato, Minn. for the NCAA Super Regionals before competing in the Division II Wrestling National Championships in St. Louis on March 14.
