The Tigersharks hosted the University of Incarnate Friday at Waggoner Pool for the season's first home swim meet. The Tigersharks knew coming in this was going to be a tough one but that didn't stop them from turning out some good swims. According to Head Coach Ryan Killackey "We expected it to be a challenging meet, with how hard we've been training and the competiton. The main goal was to get up and swim hard and swim fast regardless of how torn down we are, and I think we did that."
On the women's side Jennifer Steele had a good night, winning the 200 Freestyle in 1:57.64. In the 500 Freestyle Steele took second just getting just out touched with a time of 5:10.27 (An NCAA B Cut). Ksenia Gromova also had a good outing. Continuing her winning tradition Gromova took first in both the 200 I.M. and the 100 Backstroke with times of 2:09.97 (B Cut) and 59.33 respectively. Svitlana Smirnova also had a fantastic swim with a victory in the 100 Breaststroke in a time of 1:10.01. Holly Wray and Megan Young also had showings. Wray finished second in the 100 Butterfly in a time of 1:01.41. Young attainted second in the 100 Free in a time of 55.71.
For the men, Marcus Schlesinger pulled out two first and a third on individual swims for the night. Schlesinger easily won the 50 Freestyle in a time of 20.71, and he took it to the wire in the 100 Butterfly just barely edging it out for a first place finish in a time of 50.14 (B Cut). Matthew Pope also did well producing a second place finish in his 100 Breastroke with a time of 58.67.
"All in all I was very proud of the team," Killacky said at the conclution of the meet. "They really came together as a team, swam as a team, and competed as a team."

The Tigersharks' next meet is on the road at the Hendrix College in Conway for the Hendrix Classic. That meet is on October 28 and starts at 1:00 PM.
