OBU Deja Vu! For The Second Time This Season, Tigers Rally From 0-2 Deficit To Beat UAM 3-2

Box Score ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The UAM Cotton Blossoms most likely left the Stugis Center with an overwhelming sense of déjà vu. For the second time this season, they saw a 2-0 lead over the Ouachita Baptist Tigers turn into 3-2 loss (21-25, 13-25, 25-17, 25-21, 15-6). The Tigers, who had 18 attack errors in the first two sets, had only seven in the final three sets.

On Senior Night, Tigers Kelsi Bodine (Webb City, Mo.) and Faith Avalos (Coppell, Texas) played arguably their best games of the season. Kelsi finished with eight kills on 25 attacks with only one attack error for the night. Faith had eight kills to go along with three blocks, two of which were assisted by Bodine.

The Tigers fell victim to a barrage of unforced errors in the first two sets. After dropping set two 13-25, head coach Danny Prescott made some adjustments to the Tiger lineup with some key substitutions.

With seniors Bodine and Avalos leading the offensive attack in set three, their teammates responded with some key defensive plays to keep rallies alive and turn them into points.

Junior libero Chelsey Hess (Conway, Ark.), recorded 16 digs for the Tigers in the final two sets and the Tiger hitters were able to capitalize and take over the match. She finished the match with 29 digs.

Sophomore Abby Pickett (Texarkana, Texas) had five kills an attack percentage of .400 in the final two sets. She finished leading all participants with 14 kills.

Freshman Anna LeTourneau (Rowlett, Texas) had 36 assists and 12 digs in her first home start and only her third start of the season.
Freshman Anna Holcomb (Fayettville, Ark.) had 20 digs and a service ace.

Junior Kelley Ballard (Grand Prairie, Texas) had seven kills and seven blocks on the night. Her play at the night in set three was crucial to the Tiger turnaround. Freshman Jayme Shell (Batesville, Ark.) had eight kills to go along with eight digs.

The Tigers are now 14-10 on the season and 7-5 in Great American Conference play. They close out conference with two road games starting with East Central and finishing with a short ride across the ravine to end the season against rival Henderson State.
