Box Score BOLIVAR, Mo. - Despite a six point lead at halftime, the Ouachita Lady Tigers lost their first game of the season on Friday, falling to the Lincoln University Blue Tigers 79-64.
Ouachita ended the first half shooting 39.3 percent from the field, compared to Lincoln's shooting percentage of only 30.6 percent. Katie Kapler led all players with 12 points and seven rebounds in the first half. Kapler was 5-6 from the field in the half, and 2-2 from the free-throw line.
The Lady Tigers maintained their lead through the second half until Lincoln tied the game at 42 with 16:28 to play. The next five minutes featured eight lead changes and three ties, until the Blue Tigers grabbed a 56-53 lead and kept the lead until the end of the game.
Ouachita was plagued by 14 turnovers and 9-32 shooting in the second half. The Lady Tigers did out rebound Lincoln 35-30 and were 20-24 from the free-throw line for the game, however.
The Lady Tigers ended with a field goal percentage of 35.7 percent, and only 22.2 percent from three-point range.
Katherine West finished the game with a team-high 16 points. West also added five rebounds. Kapler recorded her second consecutive double-double, as she scored 14 points and grabbed 10 boards.
The Lady Tigers (1-1) will travel to Fort Smith, Ark. to take on the University of Arkansas at Fort Smith on Tuesday, Nov. 18. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.
