ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Tiger Tennis took the courts for the first matches of 2014 on Saturday, dominating the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff at the Heflin Tennis Center. The Tigers won all six of their matches.
OBU's
Vitor Oliveira, the 19
th ranked singles player in the nation, defeated UAPB's Leonardo Vieira 6-1, 6-4 in a best-of-three set match. Teodor Anghel followed with a win over Nicolas Plaza in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3.
Andre Stefano and
Nathan Street earned shutout victories for the Tigers, as they both defeated their opponents 6-0, 6-0.
In doubles, the team of Oliveira and
Marko Boskovic, the third ranked doubles team in the nation, defeated Pine Bluff's team of Vieira and Plaza 8-4 in a single set match to eight games.
Ouachita's second doubles team of Anghel and Stefano recorded a shutout win, defeating UAPB's second doubles team 8-0.
The Tigers finished the day with a record of 6-0 over UAPB.
The Tigers, who are the 24
th ranked team in Division II, will be at home once again on Thursday, Feb. 13, to take on Delta State University. Matches are scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
