KANSAS CITY, Missouri – Ouachita's
Maximilian Brenner has been selected as the MIAA/GAC South Division Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week.
Brenner helped the Tigers open conference play with a pair of victories last week in a 5-2 road win over Southeastern Oklahoma State last Thursday and a 5-2 victory over Arkansas-Fort Smith this past Saturday at home.
The freshman from St. Gallen, Switzerland went 2-0 in singles and 1-1 in doubles over the week. Against Southeastern, he and teammate
Tinus Mueller started with a 6-3 doubles loss on court three, but Brenner stormed back to win his singles matchup on court six by scores of 6-3, 4-6, and 7-6. Against UAFS, he and Mueller won 6-2 at No. 3 doubles followed by a come-from-behind singles win on court five over Kivanc Bedir by scores of 3-6, 6-4, and 6-0.
Brenner and the Tigers were in action at press time against Southern Arkansas at home and will hit the road next to Clinton, Mississippi this Saturday to take on Mississippi College.
