ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - The Ouachita Tigers defeated the University of Nebraska-Kearney, the NCAA D-II Central Region's top-ranked team, Thursday in Bolivar, Missouri. Ouachita won by a final of 5-4, improving to 11-4 overall.
The Tigers earned four wins in singles competition and one in doubles.
Marko Boskovic (6-4, 6-2),
Vitor Oliveira (6-1, 6-1) and
Jason Mechali (6-1, 6-4) all earned straight set victories.
Lennart Lonnemann won his singles match in three sets, 6-1, 4-6, 6-3.
The Tigers top doubles combination of Boskovic and Oliveira picked up the team's only doubles win on the day. They made quick work of Nebraska-Kearney's top duo, winning decisively, 8-1.
The Tigers currently rank 18th in the D-II ITA rankings and fourth in the Central region. They will face fifth-ranked Southwest Baptist today in Bolivar, Missouri.
