ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - The Ouachita Tigers men's tennis team faced tough competition in the round of 16 at the NCAA Division II Championships, falling 5-0 to the #3 West Florida Argonauts 5-0. Ouachita finishes the year with a record of 15-5.

Tigers Head Coach Craig Ward was proud of his team's competitiveness throughout the season, but especially in the postseason, where the Tigers earned there fourth-straight Great American Conference title and earned a bye to the final round of 16 at the NCAAs in Surprise, Arizona.

"The past couple of years we have overcome some big obstacles," Coach Ward said. "The guys have never lost focus of giving their best and it really paid off this year." This was the Tigers first trip back to the NCAA Championships since 2012, when they advanced to the Elite Eight.

Doubles pair Marko Boskovic and Vitor Oliveira, ranked 22nd by the ITA, lost 8-6 to the West Florida duo of Kuhn and Latella, the fourth-ranked team in Division II. The Tiger pairs Maciej Braciszewicz/Jason Mechali and Lennart Lonnemann/Andre Stefano,lost their doubles matches 8-5.

Trailing 3-0 heading into the singles matches, the Tigers hoped to gain ground on the Argonauts. However, Lonnemann and Stefano would fall in straight sets and allow West Florida to advance to the quarterfinals. Despite the loss, Coach Ward was proud of his team's performance.

""We were competitive but they were just better. We are disappointed that we lost but not disappointed in our effort." He added, "We are looking forward to the challenges and opportunities ahead of us."
