WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Tobias Fuerschuss and
Matias Parzajuk highlighted the Ouachita Baptist University tennis performances on Friday in the opening round of the Midwestern State Invitational.
Both have advanced to the finals of their respective single flights with a pair of wins on Friday.
Fuerschuss beat Midwestern State's Quentin Scharfenburg in the opening round 6-3 and 6-1, and then defeated Cameron's Tomas Almeida 6-1 and 6-3. He will face UT-Tyler's Moritz Mayer in the finals of the flight on Saturday at 9:30 a.m.
Parzajuk had a more difficult route to the finals of his flight. He beat Cameron's Sean Batkis 6-3 and 6-4 in the opener, and then came from behind to defeat Southeastern Oklahoma State's Marin Jurkovic in the semifinals by scores of 3-6, 6-3, and 10-5 in the tiebreaker. He will also play on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. in the finals of his flight, this time against Cameron's Joao Duleba.
