SEARCY, Arkansas – The Ouachita Baptist University cross-country teams competed in the Great American Conference Championships on Saturday with the men's team coming in fourth and the women's team coming in fifth.
The Ouachita women placed fifth overall out of 12 teams with one top 10 finisher in Jaci McGregor, who finished sixth and posted a new personal record with a 5K time of 18:24.9. Mackenzie Davis came in 20th with a time of 19:07.5.
The Ouachita men came in fourth of eight teams with one top 10 finisher in Whit Lawrence in eighth place with an 8K time of 26:11.9. Cade Swindle came in 17th at 26:54.2.
With their top 10 finishes, McGregor and Lawrence have earned All-GAC first team honors. Davis and Swindle earned a spot on the All-GAC second team.
The GAC also announced its top academic honors for cross-country on Saturday. For Ouachita, Andrew Tarleton, Kristen Holeyfield, Alexandria Huse, Grace Loftin, and Kendal Moyer all earned the GAC's Distinguished Scholar Athlete award, given to competing student-athletes that completed 70 hours with a 3.70 minimum cumulative grade point average.
