EDMOND, Oklahoma – The Ouachita Baptist University swimming teams wrapped up the Oklahoma Christian Invitational on Saturday with five impressive event wins that left both the men's and women's team in second place overall.
"The athletes just got better and better each day," said Ouachita Head Coach Steven Bostick. "We had so much momentum after Kate (McCown) won the mile, and we carried it all the way to the relays. It felt like every swim was a meet record or nationally-ranked time."
Top performances included:
- Kate McCown first place and meet record in the 1,650-yard freestyle (17:36.01)
- Jeff McCoy first place and meet record in the 200-yard backstroke (1:50.68)
- Lilia Clark first place and meet record in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:25.75)
- Anna Kate Velasquez first place in the 200-yard butterfly (2:11.28)
- Elijah Christenson first place, meet-record, and top five time nationally in 200-yard butterfly (1:49.46)
- Kaitlyn Montgomery second place in the 200-yard backstroke (2:05.47)
- Miles Schulze second place and seventh best time nationally in 200-yard breaststroke (2:02.59)
- Women's team second place in 400-yard freestyle relay (3:33.10)
- Elise Henderson third place in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:29.37)
