Men's Tennis Extends Winning Streak

THE RUNDOWN

Ouachita Baptist men's tennis won its fourth straight match Saturday, taking down MIAA foe Newman by a score of 6-1 in Springfield, Missouri. The Tigers won two of three doubles matches and five of six singles matches in the victory.

"Newman is a much-improved team," head coach Craig Ward said, "and they gave us all they could handles. We knew we would have to focus, and we did. I'm very proud of our effort."

The pairings of Francisco Oliveira and Santiago Kearney on Court 2 and Tobias Fuerschuss and Fernando Docters on Court 3 wrapped up the doubles point for the Tigers. Oliveira was the first to finish his singles victory, taking down Arthur Justo 6-0, 6-3 at No.1 for his ninth straight singles. Fuerschuss followed with a win on Court 3, as Gabriel Yaguar withdrew.

Alex Blanchar's 6-4, 6-1 victory over Gustavo Gil on Court 4 clinched the match for the Tigers. Kearney then defeated Teodor Antelj 3-6, 6-1, 7-5 at No. 2. Docters added a win on Court 6 over Jarrod Nowak.

Oliveira improved to 9-0 in singles this season. Kearney is 7-2 after Saturday's win. Fuerschuss ran his record to 6-3.  Blanchar is now 6-1, and Docters earned his fourth win in five matches.

The Tigers are back in action Sunday against Northwest Missouri State in Springfield, Missouri.
