ARKADELPHIA – The Ouachita Baptist University men's tennis team opened the spring portion of the 2021-22 season with a 7-0 victory over No. 11 Delta State on Friday night at home inside the Ward Tennis Center.
The Tigers were one doubles matchup away from making it a clean sweep, but Ouachita still came away with the point with two of three wins, highlighted by a tiebreaker win in the third position from Phil Exner and Alex Blanchar. In singles, the Statesmen made it tough in the first three matchups, including the first position with Francisco Oliveira having to win two straight after dropping the first set

In additional exhibition singles matchups, DSU's Jude Heraut and Tom Alary defeated Ouachita's Seth Hernandez and Matias Parzajuk by scores of 7-5 and 6-2, respectively. In exhibition doubles, Ouachita's Parzajuk and Hernandez defeated Heraut and Alary 7-6.
This was Ouachita's first head-to-head match of the season. The Tigers are back on the court Saturday night at home against Southwest Baptist. First serve is set for 5 p.m.
