ALVA, Oklahoma – Northwestern Oklahoma State used a nine-run first inning to set the pace for a 16-5 win over the Ouachita Baptist University baseball team on Saturday to earn the series win.
The two squads split Friday's double header with Ouachita winning game one and NWOSU taking game two 8-4. With Saturday's loss, Ouachita drops to 17-11 overall and 12-6 in Great American Conference games. NWOSU improves to 13-15 overall and 9-9 in GAC games.
The Rangers had three doubles and three homeruns in the first inning to account for their nine-run rally. NWOSU put up crooked numbers in the final three innings to earn the lop-sided win.
Ouachita plated its runs with a two-run double by Jaxon Chaney in the third, a solo homerun by Cade Burris in the fifth, and a two-run single by Tallon Heine, also in the fifth.
Burris finished the game 3-for-4 to account for half of Ouachita's hits.
The Tigers are back in action on Tuesday at home against Delta State before heading to Russellville next weekend to take on Arkansas Tech in a three-game GAC series.
