MAGNOLIA, Arkansas – The Ouachita Baptist University baseball team competed in its final game of the regular season away from Arkadelphia on Tuesday, resulting in a 16-5 road loss to No. 9 Southern Arkansas.
The Tigers (23-15) started the game with a pair of solo homeruns in the top of the first inning by
Cade Burris and
Jaxon Chaney. It was the fifth long ball of the season for both. Ouachita ended its three-run first inning with an RBI single by
Jud Arrington.
Ouachita scored its final two runs in the top of the third inning on an RBI single by
Wyatt Core and another RBI by Arrington, this time driving in a run on a groundout.
SAU hit seven homeruns in the game, and scored its runs in bunches, including two four-run innings and a six-run rally in the fourth.
Ouachita ended up with nine hits in the loss. Burris, Chaney, and
Dustin Bermudez all had two hits each.
The Tigers are back in action this weekend on the road against Southeastern Oklahoma State in a three-game Great American Conference series. The Tigers and Savage Storm are tied for second place in the league standings heading into the series.
