DURANT, Oklahoma – The Ouachita Baptist University baseball team combined to hit seven homeruns on Friday in a double-header split with Southeastern Oklahoma State on the road.
Ouachita (24-16, 16-10 GAC) hit six homeruns in the first game, helping the Tigers to a 13-8 win. Southeastern (27-14, 16-10 GAC) used a five-run sixth inning to win game two 7-2.
In the first game, the Tigers put up 11 of their 13 runs in the third and fourth innings. Four runs came across in the third, highlighted by a two-run homerun by
Cade Burris.
In the fourth, the Tigers sent 10 batters to the plate, scoring seven runs on five hits, including four homeruns.
G. Allen and
Jaxon Chaney went back-to-back with solo homeruns, followed later in the inning by a two-run blast for
Dustin Bermudez and a three-run blast by
Isaac Nowell.
Bermudez hit his second homerun of the game with a solo shot in the top of the eighth to finalize the scoring.
The Tigers had 14 hits in the win, led by Bermudez with a 3-for-4 game with four RBI. Allen, Nowell, and
Wyatt Core all had two hits in the win.
In the second game, the Tigers again went to the long ball with
G. Allen's second homerun of the day, a solo shot in the top of the first.
Southeastern tied the game in the first and held the Tigers scoreless over the next two innings.
Ouachita broke the tie with an RBI double by
Tallon Heine in the top of the fifth. Hallon went 2-for-3 to lead Ouachita's five-hit team performance.
The Savage Storm scored one in the fifth to tie the game at 2-2 before taking its final lead with five runs in the sixth, featuring a grand slam homerun.
The series finale is set for Saturday at noon in Durant.
