CRIMSON STORM EDGES TIGERS IN SERIES OPENER

BETHANY, Oklahoma --- The Ouachita Baptist University softball team opened its weekend series on the road against Southern Nazarene on Friday afternoon with a 3-2 loss.

The game featured a pitching duel between Ouachita's Madison (9-11) Miller and SNU's Jennifer Romero (15-9). Both pitchers kept the game scoreless through the first four innings.

SNU (23-23, 19-11 GAC) broke the scoreless tie with a pair of runs in the fifth. Ouachita (17-27, 13-18 GAC) answered with one run in the sixth on an RBI single from Jillian Jones, and tied the game with an RBI groundout from Lauren Lester in the seventh.

The Storm loaded the bases in the seventh, and then took advantage of a wild pitch to score the winning run.

Ouachita outhit SNU 8-7 in the game, led by Hope Waid and Jillian Jones with two hits each.

Games two and three of the series, which are the final games of the regular season, are set for Saturday starting at noon in Bethany.
