BENTONVILLE, Arkansas – The Ouachita softball team wrapped up the 2026 season on Thursday with a 4-1 loss to Arkansas Tech in the first round of the Great American Conference Championship Tournament.
Tech, the regular season GAC champion and No. 1 seed in the tournament, took the lead in the bottom of the first inning on an RBI double. Ouachita answered in the top of the third to tie the game at 1-1 on a first-and-third double steal with
Remington Adams stealing second and
Karley Burrow stealing home. Burrow led off the inning with a walk and moved to third on a single from Adams.
The Suns hit right back with one run in the bottom of the third to regain the lead at 2-1 and then held Ouachita to just one more scoring opportunity the rest of the way, which was a triple by
Jordyn Merrett in the top of the seventh. Meanwhile, the Suns cushioned their lead with a pair of runs in the bottom of the fourth and finished with 12 hits overall.
The Tigers were held to four hits in the game, one each from Adams, Merrett,
Alaina Lyle, and
Addison Davidson.
Though lasting just one game, it was Ouachita's first appearance in the GAC tournament since 2022. The Tigers finish the season at 20-32 overall.
