ARKADELPHIA – The 22nd-ranked Ouachita Baptist University men's tennis team defended its home court on Thursday with a 5-2 win over eighth-ranked Southern Arkansas.
With the win, Ouachita remains undefeated at home with a 6-0 mark, moved to 2-0 in Great American Conference play, and picks up its fourth win of the year over a nationally-ranked opponent.
The Tigers (13-3, 2-0 GAC) started the match with an impressive doubles win with 31st-ranked Francisco Oliveira and Santiago Kearney knocking off SAUs third-ranked team of Sander Jans and Marko Nikoliuk by a score of 6-1. Fernando Docters and Tobias Fuerschuss followed with a 6-4 win in second position to secure the doubles point.
In singles, the Tigers earned wins in first, second, fifth, and sixth positions.
