INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana – The Ouachita Baptist University men's tennis team will have a chance to avenge its only in-region loss of the season when it hosts Washburn for an NCAA regional tournament match on Monday, May 9.
Monday's match will start at 2 p.m. at the Heflin Courts on the Ouachita campus. The winner advances to the sweet 16 round.
The 16 regional brackets from around the NCAA Division II were announced Tuesday night in the tournament selection show. Ouachita earned the top spot in the central region, followed by No. 2 Southern Arkansas, No. 3 Northwest Missouri State, and No. 4 Washburn. SAU hosts NWMSU on Monday, also at 2 p.m.
The Tigers (17-3) and Ichabods (17-5) met on February 19 in Topeka, Kansas, resulting in a 4-0 win for Washburn.
This is Ouachita's 19th appearance in the NCAA Tournament with its automatic qualification after winning the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association/Great American Conference championship last week in Edmond, Oklahoma. It was Ouachita's 23rd overall conference title in men's tennis.
