BENTONVILLE, Arkansas – The Ouachita Baptist University softball team wrapped up the 2022 season on Saturday with a 5-1 loss to Southern Arkansas in the first round of the Great American Conference Championship Tournament.
The Tigers (18-29) threatened early with runners in scoring position in the first two innings, but it wasn't until the third inning to push one across the plate.
Lauren Lester drove in
Heather Brown on a sacrifice fly to tie the game at 1-1.
That tie was short-lived as the Muleriders (36-15) took advantage of a Tiger error to regain the lead with two unearned runs in the bottom of the third inning, and another two unearned runs in the fourth.
Following SAU's fifth run of the game, Ouachita starting pitcher
Madison Miller retired nine of the final 10 Mulerider batters. Miller ended up giving up just one earned run on six hits with five strikeouts and just one walk in her complete-game effort in the circle.
Callie Jourdan accounted for two of Ouachita's five hits in the game, going 2-for-3 with a double. Brown,
Hope Waid, and
Kyndal Moyer had the other three hits.
