ARKADELPHIA – Ouachita Baptist University men's basketball student-athlete
Tylar Haynes has been named to the 2022-23 Academic All-District Team as selected by College Sports Communicators.
The CSC Academic All-District Team is selected from student-athletes that are in at least their second year at their respective school, those that are significant contributors to their respective team in athletic competition, and those that carry at least a 3.5 cumulative grade point average.
Haynes is in his second year at Ouachita after transferring from Walters State Community College in Tennessee. He is on pace to graduate with his bachelor's degree this spring, majoring in kinesiology and sport administration.
Not only is the Memphis, Tennessee native a top performer in the classroom, he is also one of Ouachita's best basketball players. So far this season, Haynes has started in all 24 games at forward for the Tigers. He ranks second in the Great American Conference in field goal percentage (58.3) and third in rebounds (7.1 per game).
Haynes has led the Tigers in scoring in seven different games this season, and has led in rebounds in 12 games. He has scored double-digit points in 18 games, including his career high of 27 points in a win over Northwestern Oklahoma State at home on January 14.
Haynes is just the second player in program history to earn Academic All-District honors joining Aitor Lopez-Breton from 2017-18. Haynes will now be considered for the CSC Academic All-America Team, which will be announced in mid-March.
