ARKADELPHIA – The Ouachita Baptist University baseball team lost its 2023 home opener on Saturday to the University of Arkansas Fort Smith by a final score of 10-3.
Ouachita (1-1) was the first to reach the score column with a two-run double by
G. Allen. However, the Lions (2-0) plated three in the top of the third to take the lead. The Tigers answered in the bottom of the third on an RBI double from
Noah Bachman to tie the game at 3-3, but that ended up being Ouachita's final run in the game. UAFS scored one in the fifth, two in the sixth, and then exploded for four in the top of the ninth to finalize the scoring.
Allen was the only Tiger with a multi-hit game, going 2-for-5.
Michael Quinones,
Jud Arrington,
Tallon Heine, and Bachman were the other Tigers to tally a hit. Quinones and Heine each had a double in the game.
The Tigers are back in action on Sunday at home against Rogers State. First pitch is set for 1 p.m. at Rab Rodgers Field.
